The Great Guardian Family, also known as the Grand Guardian Family, is a clan to which the Great Guardian belongs. It is one of the Guardian Families that supports the Lord in the history of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult and is a founding family starting with Cheon Ma. It is the clan that directly supports and monitors the Lord of the Cult. The Guardian of the Heavenly Demon's Order (or Sky Demon Order on the novel), is a secret title given to all of the Great Guardian in the history of the Cult.
Cheon Ma had placed a special poisonous parasite inside the Great Guardian’s family and it was sent down through generations. The parasite was created by Cheon Ma and it was used to penetrate into every Great Guardian’s internal energy. If, in any way, a Great Guardian was to harm the Lord, then the poison will be activated, killing the Great Guardian.
The recipe to create the reactants was only known to the Great Guardian family, so they crafted the reactants each time a new Lord was appointed and pledged allegiance. This was a secret only known to the Lord and the Great Guardian. So, this was the reason why the Lord didn’t think of the Great Guardian as a threat to his/her position but also couldn’t outright disobey the Heavenly Demon Order.
The Guardians of the Heavenly Demon Order always stood by the Heavenly Demon's Order and assisted Lords throughout history. The job is to watch over the Lord so that he doesn't disobey the Heavenly Demon's Order.
Roots of this family came from west outside of central planes. The founder of the Wind God Clan, the first Great Guardian, at first was loyal right-hand man of Jin Yerin. She was the direct descendant of the legendary Jin Woon-Hwi. Yerin passed all of her clan martial arts, related to Heartless Wind God of Jin Song-Baek, on to the first Great Guardian. In terms of martial arts, he became successor of the Storm Shadow Eight Forms Order from the old murim.
