They are one of the finest warriors along with the Guardians as well as the high-ranking individuals that were given the position that is second to none in terms of rank within the Demonic Cult aside from the Lord. Originally, since the cult values the strong, the position is given to skilled martial artists based on their own ability and has reached the Creation Realm (Superior Master in novel) Level.
But due to the incident of Blade God's assassination of the 7th Lord Cheon Mu Hui and stepping down of Sword Demon from Vice-Lord position, the elders at that time took initiative to gain an upper hand in power thus leading to the new system of marrying Cheon Mu Hwa, the daughter of former Lord since the old system of Holy Fire is not appropriate to use. This incident then lead to concentration of power among specific clans within the cult that resulted to the Six Clans system.

Reformation[]
After Cheon Yeo Woon's coronation and ascension to the position as the 24th Lord and 2nd Heavenly Demon, he announced a new policy of having the remaining Six Clans disband and all warriors taking direct orders from the cult itself. Now all warriors and former clan leaders were given warrior groups to lead depending on their powers.
This gave a chance to weaker clans, and a reason for stronger clan leaders to train harder leading to a change in the ranks of Council Elder's position.
A competition to appoint new elders was held to find new elders and also change the current ranks. With a total of 45 cultists, everyone is discerned and filtered according to their skills and battle tactics that lead to discovery of hidden warriors from the cult.
